WHAT IS LESBIAN
VISIBILITY WEEK?

Lesbian Visibility Week (April 20-26, 2026) is an annual international movement that celebrates lesbians, queer women, and nonbinary individuals. Founded in 2020 by Linda Riley (DIVA Charitable Trust), LVW works to ensure lesbians’ lives, culture, and communities are visible across public, social, and cultural spaces. Lesbian Visibility Week centers community connection and diverse leadership. Lesbian Visibility Week is powered by The Curve Foundation in North America.

Why it Matters

Lesbians face persistent erasure in media and culture, misrepresentation and stereotypes, and a lack of spaces specifically celebrating queer women. Visibility boosts belonging and safety.

Who We Mean When We Say "Lesbian"

LVW is inclusive: our umbrella covers many identities, including lesbians, queer women, bi women, trans women, nonbinary folks, and those connected to lesbian culture.

Visibility strengthens all of us. You don’t have to identify as a lesbian to uplift those who do.

The Curve Foundation proudly champions Lesbian Visibility Week as the official U.S. host of this global annual event.

Curve’s vibrant week of in-person and virtual events features:

the curve power list

A highlight of Lesbian Visibility Week, the Curve Power List is a celebration of LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary people who are creating seismic shifts in the North America, shaping culture, policy, and social change. From sports and entertainment icons to corporate leaders and politicians, these individuals are breaking barriers, challenging norms, and leaving an indelible mark on our community and beyond.

Nominations for the Curve Power List come from the community – from peers, mentors, fans, and employers. Curve invites former Power List honorees to help determine the finalists each year.

Join us in honoring these luminaries, these game-changers, these curve-shapers. Let’s elevate their stories, ignite conversations, and inspire action. Because when LGBTQ+ voices are heard, the world becomes a more vibrant, inclusive place for us all.

The Curve Foundation proudly champions Lesbian Visibility Week as the official North American host of this global annual event, and is the only national nonprofit that champions LGBTQ+ women’s culture and stories from an intergenerational perspective. When our stories and contributions to society are not shared, are not protected, we see increases in violence against women, mental health issues, homeless youth, and suicide. Curve programs spotlight the roles lesbians and queer women hold in society and the contributions we make. .Curve Magazine has been a trailblazing publication for lesbian and queer women for over 30 years, offering a bold and inclusive perspective on news, politics, and social issues that impact LGBTQ+ communities worldwide. As a trusted voice for more than three decades, Curve dives deep into topics that matter-from groundbreaking coverage on equality and human rights to cultural commentary and celebrity interviews. Curve celebrates the diversity and resilience of the lesbian experience, spotlighting stories on entertainment, lifestyle, pop culture and fashion that inspire and connect its readers. Curve remains committed to amplifying voices, driving change, and building a thriving global community for all LGBTQ+ women.
